About the artist:  Working primarily in oil paint, Susan Sanford captures the ever-changing moods of natural landscapes and seascapes.  Her paintings explore the profound beauty found in the shifting qualities of light and color throughout the day - from the warm golden hours of dawn to the deep blues of twilight, and all the subtle transitions in between.  Nature serves as both subject and her greatest teacher.  She is drawn to the way light transforms familiar scenes, how morning mist softens distant hills, or how late afternoon sun sets water ablaze with reflected color.  These moments of natural drama and quiet beauty compel Susan Sanford to paint, seeking to preserve not just the visual elements, but the emotional resonance of being present in these places.

Susan received her BFA from Massachusetts School of Art and paints full time living in Charleston, South Carolina.
